Boarding started from First and Business Class Passengers. Most of my SQ959 flights are operated with the star alliance livery b777, such a beautiful livery. This flight has First Class. 5 out of 9 daily flight from Jakarta to Singapore has First Class seats. Oh so many crazy rich Indonesians , as all my flights to and from Jakarta, the first class are always occupied, never a light load. And remember it is a short 1 hr 50 mins hop ;) Well the thing is that if you’re a biz class passenger on an aircraft with F class, then you are not the most important passenger. But anyways, I personally think that SQ biz class flights to and from Jakarta is not something so special because the biz class is most of the time, FULL. And because it is operated with the regional biz class seats, imagine how the crews must struggle to complete the meal service in a less than 2 hrs flight serving around 60 pax so don’t expect much and just appreciate how they always try their best to be pleasant.
Note that if you’re travelling Economy for SQ, be patient during boarding as they operate wide-body aircraft and, you will have to wait until your boarding group is called. My usual economy boarding group is 6 J
Seat 14K is a window seat, The seat next to me is occupied ( see, most of their flights in this sector is fully occupied ).
I was offered a welcome drink, The cabin crew came with a tray which consists of champagne and orange juice. I go for orange juice as usual I love the tall glass, though they could’ve put their logo to help do branding,hehe.
They also passed me a hot towel, but just like the economy way. Whats amazing from SQ Economy class is that they serve hot towels for economy class passengers even in such a short flight. But no hot towel trays for business class, unlike Garuda. Well, I love how neat and friendly the crews are, so professional and managed to smile the whole flight.
As usual, during take off, I browse the IFE and managed to watch PowerList Asia, always my favorite TV show in all my SQ flights. Because its simply insightful and inspiring. For me its such a luxury to be able to watch TV shows or movies in flights, as I don’t get to watch any during my freetime. Also maybe because I cant stand watching long duration movies, Im so picky and I get bored so easily, cant stand to watch til the end,hahaha..
This is the flight menu on this flight, well although it is only printed on a single piece of paper, I appreciate the fact that there is still a menu for me to read. I don’t see any of these in any GA short haul flight. Although, SQ biz class ticket fares to Singapore is only 20% cheaper than flights to Hongkong, I don’t see any reason for them to not print a more proper menu with their extensive list of beverages. Well, As I think about it, maybe they don’t want passengers to bother the crews in prepping so many drink options in this short flight lol. And well some people might want to try extra ordinary options and make the most out of their flight.
I asked for a teddy bear, but they came back saying that they didn’t have any on this flight.
The noise cancelling headsets is way better than Garuda’s. The noise cancelling option is great. Im not sure what brand theyre using for their biz class headsets, but as far as I know they use Bose in First.
Sadly, there is no ‘Book The Cook’ option for flights from Jakarta , so I’ll have to stick with the menu onboard. But don’t worry, SQ’s inflight meal, almost ,never fail.. Note that you can view your meal options onboard in advance, go to singaporeair.com for more information. Go to manage booking, enter your flight details and head over to the meal selection option.
For this flight, I chose Grilled Salmon in lemon chive sauce with asparagus, red bell pepper and buttered potatoes. Ok one of the things I love about sq biz class meals is that there is significant difference between their eco and biz class meal. Great presentation, high quality ingredients, diversed menu, the ability to book the cook for some routes and they adapt with the country’s cuisine. Oh and they are very generous in terms of portion, hehe, especially for such a short flight. Like this is why I always say that if youre flying at least SQ biz class, you will never go hungry J
The salmon was deliciousss, accompanied with the sauce, unforgettable. But I’d appreciate if they could put more sauce,hehe
This was the dessert, nutty caramel tart, it was exceptional. Simply one of the best tarts ive ever had in my life. Good job, SQ.
Mom’s Wok Fried Sliced beef in black bean sauce with assorted vegetables and rice noodles . She said it wash delish, and rate it 9/10.. Ofcourse presentation wise there’s actually nothing much they can do to make it pretty. But look at the portion, its huge for such a short flight.
For the bread option, Of course I chose the most wanted SQ garlic bread and the thin crackers ( I honestly don’t know what its called but I Loveddd it )
For the beverage to accompany my meal, I chose mineral water and champagne.
On this particular flight, I see that the crews are quite busy, im not that thirsty so I passed the coffee or tea after the meal service.
Time flies so fast when you’re having a good time We landed safely at Changi airport, looking through the window, I saw a beautiful A350 from Qatar. A350 is one of my favorite aircraft, well look at the cockpit windows, oh so beautiful.
Conclusion:
I never had bad experiences with SQ. Flying with SQ is always pleasant, regardless of your class of travel. I love the professionalism of the crews, the efficient service and the food. The regional business class seats are great, can turn to nearly flat bed, but wouldn’t choose this seat for a long-haul flight. I love the leather seats. This specific aircraft is 13 years old, but it was still well-maintained and clean. I loved how SQ always put high standards of cabin cleanliness. Flying business class with SQ will be much better for long haul flights as you can really get a more personalized and attentive service. This short flight is really too short to feel the SQ unbeatable experience
